Miss Saigon

Miami New Times

The interior of Miss Saigon looks otherworldly. The folks who work here dress in traditional odia (brilliantly hued long dresses) and have a knack for making guests feel welcome. Have no fear if this is your first time eating Vietnamese. An extremely friendly (and on occasion, flamboyant) server will ask you a series of questions: What kind of meat do you like? Do you want something healthy?...

Miss Saigon: A True Vietnamese Family Restaurant

by Paola Mendez @ Coral Gables Love

Photo courtesy of Stacy Moya Vietnamese music plays as you step into Miss Saigon. You are greeted by waiters wearing traditional Vietnamese outfits. The walls are decorated with bamboo panels and the restaurant has bamboo plants throughout giving it a cozy atmosphere. As soon as you sit down you are brought hot towels to freshen up your hands and get you ready to enjoy your meal. I first discovered Miss Saigon when my sister invited me to try it many years ago. Once I tasted their signature dish the Miss Saigon (steamed rice noodle bowl with spring rolls and chicken), they had a loyal customer for life. The dish has crispy spring rolls inside of it. Yum! Photo courtesy of Stacy Moya I love dining at Miss Saigon because they serve the most delicious homemade Vietnamese food. After talking with restaurant owner, David Nguyen, I learned that Miss Saigon is an example of the importance of family and how working together will lead to incredible achievements. Miss Saigon is owned and operated by the Nguyen family: Mrs. Thi and her husband Mr. Nguyen, their daughters Hali and Mimi, and their sons Huey and David. In 1975, the Nguyen family attempted ...

Chef Giorgio Rapicavoli Represents Coral Gables at the Atelier of Taste Workshop

by Paola Mendez @ Coral Gables Love

Chef Giorgio Rapicavoli, from Coral Gables gem Eating House, participated in this year’s Atelier of Taste. How cool is that? When I received the invitation to a tasting where we would relive their French culinary experience – I was ecstatic! The experience lived up to my expectations with a decadent five course meal – each paired with a different cocktail. I got to meet the creator of GREY GOOSE, François Thibault and meet some other cool peeps. Photo credit Vintage Unicorn ABOUT THE ATELIER OF TASTE AND THE 2018 ITERATION This year the culinary and cocktail mentorship program, Atelier of Taste, welcomed 10 rising star chefs and bartenders to the home of GREY GOOSE, Le Logis, an elegant 17th century manor located in the heart of France. The residents learned about the complex interplay between flavor and technique from two industry icons – Chef Alain Ducasse and GREY GOOSE Cellar Master François Thibault – with the intention to further develop their unique style of artistry and inspire them in their careers. The group was among the first to work with the newest iteration of the vodka, GREY GOOSE Interpreted by Ducasse, which has launched in the Miami market this November. ...

Miami New Times

Long one of the bright lights in Miami's quality-challenged Asian culinary scene, this cramped, no-frills eatery still turns out creditable Vietnamese cuisine. Cha gio are excellent, and blue crabs in a tart-sweet tamarind sauce are worth the amount of effort it takes to extract the minuscule nuggets of crab meat. Be advised: Little Saigon takes cash only.Read our full review.
