Vespa Food Tour Ho Chi Minh

24 Hours in Ho Chi Minh

by admin @ Ho Chi Minx

Ho Chi Minh City, or Saigon as the locals still call it, is a rising Asian star sprawling across the Mekong delta. The mammoth river meanders past both glitzy new skyscrapers and clusters of low thatched huts, marking this diverse city’s intoxicating mix of old and new worlds. Motorbikes and scooters swarm through the streets of Saigon carrying families of five, portable street kitchens and even wide-screen TVs. The French influence lingers in the tree-lined boulevards and colonial buildings of District...

Vespa Adventures: Angkor Wat Temple Tour

Vespa Adventures: Angkor Wat Temple Tour

by Kayli Stix @ Journal - Get Busy Exploring

We explored the most famous temple in the world: Angkor Wat in Siem Reap. We also cruised over to 4 other temples, including Ta Phrom temple in which the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider film made famous. Instead of the usual route throughout the temples, Vespa Adventures took on a more adventurous route through the jungle to each temple. At each ruin, we heard historical stories behind each one including the majestic markings on the walls. At Angkor Wat, we explored through the temples' ruins, climbed the steps towards the King's Tower and Kayli even got to do a couple yoga poses inside Angkor Wat and the other temples.

Bamboo rafting through Tham Lot cave

Bamboo rafting through Tham Lot cave

by Kayli Stix @ Journal - Get Busy Exploring

At certain times of the year, you can kayak on the Nam Lang river that runs through the cave but this time around we could only ride the bamboo raft. You must have a guide take you through the cave so we paid our fees and set off to explore all 3 caves within, all of which had something different to offer. They all blew our mind and we wish we had hours to spend exploring each little crevice. We arrived at the exit of the cave during the perfect time to see the hundreds of birds and bats swarm around in circles returning home from a day outside. It was one of our favorite caves and right in our backyard of Cave Lodge.

Cave exploring with Gaymoo, a local Karen jungle guide, in Mae Hong Son

by Kayli Stix @ Journal - Get Busy Exploring

We tagged along with a group of 5 other explorers who came from Pai for the adventure. Our group was picked up in the morning and we were loaded into the back of a pickup and dropped off at the forest with our Karen Village guide, Gaymoo. We then trekked through the forest for an hour trying random fruits along the way, saying hi to some mud bathing water buffalos, blowing bubbles through the leaves of bubble plants and finally making it to our first cave. It had rained the night before so entering this first cave was quite slippery in the mud as we had to nearly crawl on hands and knees for 10 meters. Once in we walked around the beautiful cave seeing all the untouched formations.

Summer and I have a love for art, especially street art so when we were recommended/urged to visit George Town for its street art, we knew we had to go... and man was it worth it. We never wanted to leave. We spent each of our 5 days just walking around the city finding new street art each time, eating some of the best food in SE Asia and saying hello or smiling at the friendliest locals and people on the street.
